About the Job
Charlotte County Habitat for Humanity is looking for a Full Time Carpenter to join our Construction team. We build affordable homes for Charlotte County residents.
This position combines technical carpentry expertise with crew responsibilities supervising volunteers and contributes to the successful completion projects that advance Habitat's mission providing strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Perform skilled carpentry work in building and renovating homes, including rough and finish carpentry. 
  • Execute specialized carpentry tasks including framing, roofing, flooring, trim work, cabinet installation, and door and window installation. 
  • Utilize knowledge of construction techniques, tools, materials, and building methods to ensure high-quality workmanship. 
  • Read and interpret construction blueprints, drawings, and specifications to complete work accurately. 
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and install structural woodwork and related materials according to specifications. 
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and equipment safely and efficiently to complete assigned tasks. 
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and mission-focused work environment that engages and motivates volunteers.
  • Ensure all work complies with building codes, specifications, and Habitat for Humanity standards. 
  • Provide safety training and orientation to volunteers, emphasizing the importance of following safety guidelines. 

Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Proficient in all aspects of residential carpentry, including framing, roofing, finish work, and general construction and smart technology. 
  • Knowledgeable of construction techniques, building materials, tools, and equipment. 
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and specifications. 
  • Solid understanding of building codes, safety regulations, and OSHA requirements. 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think critically in the field. 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with diverse teams and volunteers.
  • Must be willing to learn.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License and acceptable driving record. 
  • Must pass background check and drug screening. 
  • Ability to operate construction vehicles and equipment as needed.
  • Work schedule is Tuesday-Saturday 7:30am-4:00pm.
